The Grand Haven Lady Bucs accomplished the difficult task of winning two straight Class A state titles on Saturday, and they're not far behind the state record.

According to the Michigan High School Athletic Association, the record belongs to Flint Northern, whose girls team won four straight Class A state titles, 1978-81.

The most appearances in the girls finals to date is 12, shared by Detroit Country Day (1989 to 2004) and Portland St. Patrick (1978 to 2004). Talk about dominance! But those are not consecutive trips. Country Day does have that record, with eight straight trips to the finals from 1997 to 2004.

Country Day also has the most titles to date, with eight Class B championships and one as a Class C school (1989).

The longest game win streak for girls teams in Michigan is 78 by Carney-Nadeau (1989-91). Flint Northern won 75 in a row from 1978-81.
