Lights in the sky?

Kristin of Grand Haven asked, "My family and I were driving home from Christmas Eve service (at 8:40 p.m.) and we just saw three fireball-looking things in the sky while heading south on U.S. 31, just past the drawbridge. Do you know if anyone was doing anything unique for Christmas Eve? Or might you have any idea what these were?"

ANSWER:

Grand Haven Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke said he has a fairly good idea what Kristin and family may have seen.

"I can’t be sure, but a good bet is that the objects in question were sky lantern luminaries," he said.
