Falling pole?

Maryann of Grand Haven asked, “On the railroad bridge over the river, south side, there has been a pole holding wires leaning over the water for a very long time. Do we have to wait for it to fall in the water and cause damage before anyone takes care of it? It’s been a concern of mine for at least two years. Anybody else?”

ANSWER:

The Grand Haven Board of Light & Power says that pole belongs to the railroad company.

So, I contacted the management of the Michigan Shore Railroad Co., but they have yet to respond. City officials said they’ve contacted the railroad company and are awaiting a response, too.

I wish I could tell you more, Maryann. I know the pole you are asking about, and it’s been that way for many years.

it's the telegraph that runs from Hootersville to Mayberry. I've wondered about that too.
