Lightning causes small fire

Lightning from the thunderstorms that rolled through the area early Monday morning ignited a small fire in the back of a Spring Lake Township home.

A tree in the backyard of the home in 17800 block of Hiawatha Drive was hit by a lightning strike at about 7 a.m. The lightning traveled through the ground and the home’s patio to a dryer vent and into the basement, where it burned some drywall.

The homeowner noticed sparks coming from her iron as she was doing some ironing at the time.

No one was injured.

Oh! The ironing!

I think it ironic too!

Back to the Wall

The homeowner was steamed.

Probably put a wrinkle in their morning plans.
