The crash occured on northbound U.S. 31, just south of Taft Road at about 3:45 p.m.

Wayne Jarvis said he moved over to the outside lane when he saw a Michigan State Police car stopping traffic on the side of the highway.

At about the same time a vehicle in front of him braked.

Jarvis said to avoid a collision, he steered right and his car went across both lanes of traffic, down through a wet ditch and up the other side, stopping just short of the fence.

He was not injured.

One lane of traffic filtered through the area until a larger tow truck arrived and was able to move the vehicle through the mud.

Must have been fast response by the cops!
