When asked what he did, Eric Jay Willard said he couldn’t remember because he was intoxicated.

The 50-year-old man was in Ottawa County Circuit Court Tuesday morning to submit a no contest plea to the charge.

Judge Jon Hulsing read the accusations from the police report: “He approached his wife, jumped on top of her and bit her in the chest area.”

The report noted that Willard left the room and returned with a baseball bat. He held it in a threatening manner.

Hulsing noted that the man had domestic violence convictions in 2010 and 2011.

Sentencing was set for June 23.
