Carlton Johnson was also sentenced Monday to 5-15 years for inappropriately touching a third girl.

Johnson had been bishop of Faith Congregational Church of God in Christ in Muskegon. A jury found him guilty last month of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Court testimony showed the sexual assaults occurred between 2006 and 2012 when the girls were age 15 and younger.

About six other women have testified that they were victimized years earlier. A 70-year-old woman testified that she was sexually assaulted by Johnson as long ago as 1957.

The less time your kids go to Church, the less likely they are to get molested or raped. I am sure that the Church has enough money to pay for all the court fees, since the Church doesn't have to pay taxes. SMH

Yeah because kids never get molested or raped anywhere else like school, camps, athletic programs, parks, etc. Wake up to reality and realize that parents need to be more responsible for their kids and teach them about safety and of course properly supervised. This is not the job of ministers, teachers, counsellors, coaches, or anyone else except the parents.

Blaming others doesn't make our kids safer and the Church or any one person in the Church should be to blame from the actions of just a few wayward souls. No disrespect to the to the girls or the woman who suffered at the actions of this individual but the Church as a whole is not to blame for this.
