Police said unknown suspects fled the area of Harbor Drive and Sherman Street in a red vehicle prior to the arrival of Grand Haven Department of Public Safety officers.

Fire burned an area of approximately 300 feet before firefighters extinguished it in windy conditions about 4:30 p.m.

Remnants of fireworks packaging were located in the area.

Anyone with information on the incident should call police at 8423460.

The disrespect for that area continues. Countless calls were recorded to the city and Bill Hunter regarding the dune that collapsed, the disregard for signs telling people to stay off the 5 Mile Hill dune, the dune behind Butches, etc., has been noted but never addressed. Until the city gets serious about enforcing these protections, it is apparent the citizens won't either. Other states we visit do not have this issue because people respect their dunes AND there are consequences for those who don't.

When these kids are caught, the authorities need to remember this is critical dune. I hope the GHDPS realizes that this is no small fine.

Tri-cities realist

Would a public hanging be sufficient? (Not that I'm suggesting the perps shouldn't be held accountable.)
