Bookstore employees stop domestic assault

Three employees separated a man and woman involved in a domestic assault Monday morning at a Barnes & Noble bookstore near Holland.

The 32-year-old suspect fled the scene when police arrived. He was apprehended across the street after a short foot chase.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 9:26 a.m. to the store, 3530 Beeline Road in Holland Township, on a report of a man assaulting a woman.

The bookstore employees went to the 40-year-old Holland woman’s aid before police arrived. Her name was not released.

The suspect was treated for minor injuries at Zeeland Community Hospital. His name will be released after he is arraigned, police said.
