The crash happened in the southbound lanes of U.S. 31 near the Pontaluna exit in Norton Shores.

Police say a 73-year-old woman from Twin Lake was northbound in the southbound lanes. Police are not sure where the woman entered the highway, but they say that several motorists called 911 before the crash to report her.

A car driven by a 30-year-old man was not able to avoid her. The collision sent his car rolling onto the shoulder of the road. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The woman was not hurt, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

No word yet on citations for the crash.

Oh my, 73 year olds should NOT be driving.

Allright MDOT, time to put tire spikes on all on/off ramps, but why do that, when we can put millions toward paving M104.

Or paving other roads that don't need it, instead of the ones that do. So ridiculous.

2nd wrong way crash in 2 weeks... How hard is it to use the right ramp? Its not like they don't have big red signs saying WRONG WAY

Mandatory driving test every 3 years after 60. Then every year after 70. This would not eliminate all of the issues, but it would have to reduce the amount of incidents like this.

ohwell

There should be driving tests every year for every one. But done with people that actually know how to drive. The people giving road tests to our teens aren't the people to be doing any tests. Speaking of teens, people worry about teens, never a mention of old grey hairs. Saw one yesterday driving like she was the only one on the road on US-31.
