Miguel Reyes, 33 and Elizabeth Hernandez, 30, both of Holland Township, were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Wes Grady of Grand Rapids said the couple had joined his group of motorcyclists as they headed to Bike Time in Muskegon.

"We were coming up this left lane. Some cars moved over," he said.

Grady said the motorcycles started to move over as well, and the Holland couple clipped a traffic cone near the median and flipped over the handlebars.

"It sounds like he was cut off," said Sgt. Lee Adams of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety. "He rolled the bike a couple of times."

Adams said fortunately both riders were wearing helmets.

Grady said the pair seemed disoriented and shaken up. They also had some "road rash."

The man was walking around the scene. The woman was conscious and propped up against the median wall, receiving assistance from emergency personnel.

No other information was available at the time.

Hey, I fly too!

So did the car that caused the accident stop?

Just another example of innattentive/distracted drivers causing harm to people on two wheels. At least there are cameras on both approaches to the bridge; maybe they caught the accident.

As soon as that light turn,s green at Jackson, heading north, it,s like a drag strip, i was talking about that today, sit at Walgreen,s and observe, they should change the speed limit to 35 until they cross the bridge and on the highway

upchuck

yup put the the blame on everything else how about some lake of attention by the driver as for the the speed it should be raised

You should see how fast the cars are flying off the exit into the Village of Spring Lake. But MDOT loves the traffic to flow, and to flow fast, maybe the new and improved Sheriff department will act? Don't hold your breath...

Spring Lake and Ferrysburg are both 35 in town, so is Grand Haven, why would you want Beacon Boulvard to the bridge 50 mph, the light at Jackson is like opening the flood gate to disaster, more so in the winter !!!

Tri-cities realist

Perhaps because the speed limit eventually reaches 70mph just south of van wagoner. Not everyone going north is headed to spring lake or ferrysburg.

Its go with the flow or get ran over in that stretch. On a bike nothing unnerves much more than a tailgating driver on a congested patch of road where everyone wants to be first in line.
Part of the issue is some will get into the far right as though going to SL but then muscle their way over so that you add several more impatient drivers to the mix wanting to squeeze in spots that didn’t exist because they also want to be ahead of everyone else and got in the right lane to bypass as many vehicles as possible…we used to call them MergeJerks.
