Pedestrian killed while crossing Seaway Drive

(UPDATED: 3:55 p.m. Wednesday) A 57-year-old Muskegon man died Wednesday morning after being hit by a car while he was trying to cross Seaway Drive.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Seaway Drive and Norton Avenue at about 1:07 a.m.

Norton Shores Police said Albert White III was struck by a minivan while he attempted to cross the street.

An ambulance transported him to Mercy Health Partners Hackley Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The driver of the minivan, a 63-year-old Muskeon man, said he had a green light at the intersection as he drove west on Seaway Drive. He was unable to stop in time when he saw the pedestrian, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
