A 27-year-old cab driver was dispatched to pick up a fare at the Whispering Pine Apartments in Holland Township at 2:50 p.m. Monday. Police said the customer pulled out a handgun and robbed the cab driver of his cash, then fled on foot.

The driver was not injured, said Capt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Detectives gathered information in and around the apartment complex during the past few days, Bennett said, and that led them to the suspect — a 20-year-old Indiana man who most recently was staying with his girlfriend at the complex.

Police took the suspect into custody and recovered a handgun on Thursday. Bennett said the suspect was cooperative with detectives.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending his expected arraignment today in Holland District Court on charges of armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to Bennett.

How did he get the day off work to commit this robbery....maybe a late lunch?

Great work

Why is it important to report the age of the cab driver?
