An ambulance took Charles Hatcher to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon following the 6:50 p.m. incident at the Hatcher home in the 400 block of Third Street (174th Avenue).

Hatcher is an experienced climber, said his father, Larry Hatcher. The younger Hatcher was moving an antenna from one location to another on the roof of the house.

“His spike broke out of the pole when he was moving his foot,” Larry said. “He went straight down and caught the fence. It tore off into his arm.”

Neighbor Clark Miles and his son, Devin, said they rushed to the man’s aid. But Hatcher got up on his own and walked over to his truck. Miles said they assisted Hatcher out of the safety harness he was wearing.
