Girl injured in fall from top of escalator

A 16-year-old girl has been injured after falling over a railing at the top of a Kalamazoo-area shopping mall escalator. Sgt. Kevin Gleesing of the Portage Police Department told the Kalamazoo Gazette the girl was riding the rail of an escalator at The Crossroads Mall in Portage when she fell Wednesday afternoon. Police told television stations WOOD and WWMT that the fall from the mall's second story appears to have been accidental. Gleesing said the girl's injuries weren't serious. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
