Teen arrested after breaking into cars in Allendale

A 17-year-old Tallmadge Township man was arrested following a series of car larcenies on Henry Street in Allendale Township early Tuesday morning, said Sgt. Keith Garvelink of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department. Police were alerted at 1:30 a.m. when a Henry Street resident called 911 and reported that someone was breaking into cars in the area. That same resident gave chase and saw the suspect getting into a car and leaving the scene, Garvelink said.

The suspect vehicle was observed going east on M-45, where police stopped the car and found computer equipment that belonged to someone on Henry Street, Garvelink said.

The teen was connected to additional larcenies in that area, Garvelink said.

The suspect, whose name was not being released pending arraignment, was lodged in the Ottawa County Jail on alcohol and larceny charges.
