Police said Dawson was driving north on Balsam Drive at an excessive speed when an Ottawa County deputy attempted to pull him over. Lt. Steve Kempker said Dawson cut through several parking lots before exiting onto Port Sheldon Street, heading east at a high rate of speed. He then crested a small hill just east of 36th Avenue, lost control and crashed his 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle into a house on the corner of 36th Avenue and Port Sheldon Street.

Georgetown Township firefighters and the township’s E-Unit assisted at the scene, along with AMR Ambulance, Kempker said.

The accident remains under investigation, he said.
