Victim named in fatal double shooting in Muskegon

Police are continuing to investigate a double shooting Monday morning that resulted in the death of a 27-year-old Muskegon man. Derrick Dawson was found shot behind a house about 5:30 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of Allen Avenue, according to the Muskegon Police Department. Dawson had been struck several times by gunfire and died at the scene, police said. A second victim, a 25-year-old Muskegon man, was also injured and was taken to a Muskegon hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. His name is being withheld pending further investigation.
