Michigan man pleads guilty to killing puppy

A Mount Pleasant man who police said drunkenly kicked a puppy to death has pleaded guilty to killing or torturing an animal and felony drunken driving. Leelanau County prosecutors dismissed a felony count of malicious destruction of personal property in exchange for Maurice Francis' plea this week. The 21-year-old is to be sentenced June 6 in Suttons Bay. He's accused of smashing out the windows of a woman's vehicle in Northport in March and kicking Blu, a 12-week-old dog. Blu later died from the injuries.
