One hurt in rear-end crash on southbound U.S. 31

A 24-year-old Fruitport man was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital for evaluation following a three-car crash this morning on southbound U.S. 31 at Columbus Avenue. The man had stopped his Jeep Liberty for a red traffic light, just after 8 a.m., when he was rear-ended by a van driven by a 40-year-old Ferrysburg woman, said Lt. Renee Freeman of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety. The Liberty was pushed into another Jeep driven by a 30-year-old Whitehall woman, who was also stopped for the light, Freeman said.

Neither of the women were injured, and all three drivers were wearing seatbelts, Freeman said.

The van and the Jeep Liberty had to be towed from the scene.
