3 killed in wrong-way crash in Ottawa County

Police said a driver going the wrong way on Interstate 196 near Hudsonville early Sunday hit another car, killing three people and critically injuring several others. Police shut down the westbound lane of I-196 at the 32nd Avenue exit for several hours to clean up the scene. Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies said the wrong-way driver, from Nebraska, hit a Chevy Malibu carrying five people shortly before 4 a.m. Deputies are still investigating to see if fog or alcohol played a part in the crash.
