Authorities: Boy dies while playing on rope swing

A boy playing alone on a rope swing in his yard in Allegan County has died after the rope apparently became tangled around his neck. Police said Anthony Reyes was found Tuesday afternoon by family members outside his home in Ganges Township. State police said the rope was tied to a tree branch and used by the family's children. Authorities said the boy was 8 or 9 years old. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said the boy's death appears accidental, but it remains under investigation.

A boy playing alone on a rope swing in his yard in Allegan County has died after the rope apparently became tangled around his neck.

Police said Anthony Reyes was found Tuesday afternoon by family members outside his home in Ganges Township. State police said the rope was tied to a tree branch and used by the family’s children.

Authorities said the boy was 8 or 9 years old. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
