Holland man hospitalized after crashing motorcycle in Ferrysburg

A 40-year-old Holland man was hospitalized Saturday after crashing his motorcycle into a guard rail along the southbound U.S. 31 off ramp to Spring Lake, police said. Wilson Erasmo Canel-Torres was riding with four other friends shortly after 5:30 p.m. when he lost control on the off ramp and crashed, Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police officer Adam Van Dis said. The crash occurred where the off ramp curves before passing under U.S. 31. Chris Brissette, one of the riders, said that he and the others were headed for Grand Rapids when the accident occurred.

Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, Van Dis said.

The man’s injuries were non-life threatening, Van Dis said, adding that he likely suffered a leg fracture. Canel-Torres was taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital for treatment. He was listed in good condition this morning, according to Jenn VanSkiver, NOCH spokesperson.
