Two hurt in Ferrysburg rollover accident

Two people were taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital following an accident at about 10:30 this morning on Pine Street near the Dockside Mobil gas station. Danielle Berkobien, 17, of Spring Lake, said she was heading to work to pick up her check when the 1994 Land Rover slid on the wet pavement as she drove around the curve on the M-104 bridge into Ferrysburg.

Berkobien said she let up on the gas and the car quickly slid across the lane into the path of a Lexus, which was occupied by a Grand Haven couple, said Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police. Their names were not immediately available as police were planning to make contact with them at the hospital.

After the impact, Berkobien’s Land Rover tipped on its side, landing on utility pole support wires. Berkobien said she was not injured.

Traffic was slowed for more than a half hour as emergency crews worked to clear up the scene.

Berkobien, who said she was traveling about 20-25 mph, was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.

Ferrysburg firefighters assisted at the scene.
