Muskegon man arrested in connection with shooting

The Muskegon Police Department arrested Ricky Meeks, 29, who was wanted on felony warrants for firearms violations. Meeks was also wanted for questioning reference a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Isabella Street in the City of Muskegon on May 27. The victim of that shooting was Jermaine Buchanan, 29, from Muskegon who was shot once in the abdomen but has since recovered.

U.S. Marshals working in conjunction with Muskegon Police and WEMET Investigators acted upon information that Meeks might be hiding in Illinois. U.S. Marshals located Meeks in Decatur, Ill. and arrested him on the outstanding warrants.

Meeks will be returned to Muskegon to face charges pending an extradition hearing.
