Info sought on rash of Ottawa County home invasions

Several thousand dollars worth of electronics, jewelry, guns and prescription medications have been reported stolen during a series of daytime home invasions which occurred on the east side of Ottawa County over the last couple of weeks, police said. Police are looking for help in identifying any possible suspects. Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department said the home invasions were reported between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at locations in Allendale, Tallmadge, Polkton and Jamestown townships. The incidents intensified on Monday, he said.

Entry was forced into the homes through doors and windows, Bennett said, and thieves targeted residences where nobody was home.

At this time, police have no suspects, although a neighbor noticed an older green pickup truck in the area of an Allendale home invasion on Monday, Bennett said.

Anyone noting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT, or submit tips online at www.mosotips.com.
