A Muskegon County police officer will be charged with drunk driving after authorities said she drove her sport utility vehicle into a house in Ottawa County on Tuesday night.

Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies said Jacqueline Cota was driving a 2005 Chevy Equinox in the 5000 block of Eighth Avenue in Georgetown Township at around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, ran a stop sign and plowed into the bedroom of a home where a couple was sleeping.

Police said no one was seriously hurt, but Cota was treated at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for leg injuries.

Cota is a part-time police officer for both the North Muskegon and Roosevelt Park police departments, WZZM-TV reported today. She is scheduled to appear in an Ottawa County court on July 13.
