Woman drives into restaurant, no one injured

No one was injured when a Park Township woman crashed her vehicle into the front of a Holland-area restaurant Friday afternoon, police said. Witnesses told police that Mary Jillson, 75, was attempting to back out of a parking space in the lot at Zoup!, 3435 W. Shore Drive, but instead drove forward. Police and firefighters responded to the restaurant shortly after 2 p.m. to find that Jillson, whose vehicle was about halfway through the front entrance area of the building, was trapped in her vehicle, police said.

Sgt. Brent Converse of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said after removing the car from the building, emergency workers were able to remove Jillson from the vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation, Converse said, adding that alcohol was not a factor.

Holland/Park Township paramedics and Holland Township firefighters responded to the accident, as well as AMR paramedics, Converse said.
