Police: Man with board, gun beaten in Kalamazoo

Authorities said a man who brandished a board and later a handgun during an argument involving a group of people on a Kalamazoo street was beaten with the board. Police said they found the 36-year-old man with head wounds on Thursday night. He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Witnesses told police the man had the board when he approached a group of people and got into an argument with them. After the board was taken from him he pulled out a gun, and one person from the group beat him over the head with it until he fell to the ground.

Police said someone else in the group grabbed the gun and shot at the 36-year-old, but didn’t hit him. The group fled.
