Two accidents in village on Thursday afternoon

A 27-year-old Spring Lake man suffered only minor injuries after a car he was riding in was struck by another vehicle on Thursday afternoon. Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police said the incident happened at 12:25 p.m. when a car driven by a 62-year-old Spring Lake resident, heading south on Lake Avenue, was struck by a car driven by a 70-year-old Spring Lake resident, who was turning left off River Street onto Lake. The 27-year-old was a passenger in the 62-year-old's car.

Police said the 70-year-old turned the corner too soon and the driver was given a ticket for failing to yield.

Later in the day, a 72-year-old Spring Lake man was uninjured after laying down his motorcycle in front of the Arby’s restaurant on Savidge Street in Spring Lake.

According to police, the incident was a result of a vehicle in front of the motorcycle stopping suddenly, resulting in him having to lay the motorcycle down.
