Police said a 45-year-old southern Michigan man kidnapped and raped a Montana woman after promising to give her a bus ticket home. Kelvin Hawkins was arraigned Thursday on charges including kidnapping and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. The Battle Creek man was ordered held on $500,000 bond and faces life in prison if convicted. Hawkins has requested a court-appointed attorney.
