GHDPS has items recovered from vehicle break-ins

The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety has recently recovered property stolen from motor vehicles during the months of June, July and August. These types of incidents often go unreported because the victim does not feel there is a chance to recover the property or be compensated for the loss by their insurance company. Because so few are reported, GHDPS is unable to return recovered property to the rightful owner, said Lt. Renee Freeman.

Freeman encourages anyone who has been a victim of an unreported car larceny (during this time frame), in which any electronics or car accessories were stolen, to contact GHDPS.

“We would also like to remind everyone to keep their vehicles and residences secured when left unattended,” she said. “This is for personal safety, as well as to protect against thefts.”
