Couple rescued from Lake Macatawa on Thursday

A rescue boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Holland rescued two people in Lake Macatawa on Thursday afternoon. A man and woman, both of whom were wearing life jackets, were rescued. Their names and ages are not being released. The couple was spotted while Coast Guard crews were underway on a routine patrol aboard a 25-foot small response boat. The crew saw the two people fall into the water after their 15-foot sailing vessel capsized at about 2:15 p.m.

The boatcrew was able to recover the two individuals, right the capsized vessel and tow it to Lake Ranch Marina. There were no injuries reported.

The U.S. Coast Guard encourages all mariners to wear life jackets at all times when on the water, and to carry a communications device, such as a marine-band radio, while boating.
