Hudsonville boy, 7, found safe at Holland State Park

A 7-year-old Hudsonville boy who went missing for more than an hour on Wednesday afternoon was found safe at Holland State Park. Owen Snoap went missing at the park's overflow campground at about 3:25 p.m., according to Sgt. Brent Converse of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department. Police said the child went missing when the family was setting up their campsite. They became distracted and the child walked away.

Family members then searched the surrounding area and asked Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials for assistance. The Park Township Fire Department was also called to assist in the search.

Converse said once police arrived, the boy was missing for a half-hour.

Police also put out a child missing alert, and about 1,200 calls were made to Park Township residents in a 2.5-mile area surrounding the state park, officials said.

The child was eventually found at 4:40 p.m. when Park Township firefighters were searching the beach area. The boy was found unharmed playing at the water’s edge.
