Suspects captured after Grand Haven Township burglary

Two suspects who allegedly broke into a Grand Haven Township business on Friday morning are being linked to other crimes in the region, according to Ottawa County Sheriff's Department Lt. Mark Bennett. A 42-year-old and a 32-year-old were apprehended by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department in Marne after the suspects allegedly broke into Lake Cycles, 12200 West Olive Road at 1 a.m. Friday During the stop, officers discovered items believed to have been stolen from the Grand Haven Township store. “Further investigation by detectives from Ottawa, Kent and Walker city departments show the suspects are possibly involved in several other break-ins during the past six month period,” Bennett said.

Detectives searched the men’s northwest Grand Rapids home and discovered several articles of stolen property, Bennett said. The property is linked to both businesses and residences.

“As a result of this investigation, area departments feel that several break-ins will be cleared up,” he said.

Bennett said both suspects have extensive criminal history and will likely be charged as habitual offenders, and the men are being held at the Ottawa County Jail pending formal charges.
