2 Illinois men among 3 Mich. drowning victims

Authorities said two 25-year-old Illinois men drowned in separate incidents in Michigan waters over the Labor Day weekend. Police in New Buffalo said Wojciech Sadowski of Palos Hills, Ill., and a friend were swimming in stormy Lake Michigan on Sunday when they got in trouble. The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph reported the friend managed to cling to a swimming zone buoy, where a lifeguard rescued him. Police said the 6-foot waves prevented local authorities from using their rescue boats, so a 47-foot U.S. Coast Guard boat responded.
