Woman's body found on Lake Mich. beach

UPDATE: Preliminary results of an ongoing autopsy examination have determined that Phebe Hall's official cause of death was drowning, WZZM-TV reported Thursday night. The police investigation continues. The body of Hall, 54, was found on the beach at Holland State Park on Thursday morning. The Park Township woman was last seen by her husband at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Rescue crews began their search at about 10 p.m. Wednesday. A beach walker found the body at around 6 a.m. the next day.

Emergency crews said the Lake Michigan waves were strong on Wednesday night.

Hall lived close to the stretch of beach near James Street, where her body was found. Some articles of her clothing were found a few miles down the beach from where her body was found.

Police said they do not suspect foul play from their preliminary investigation.
