Woman, 18, crushed to death after roll-over crash

An 18-year-old Grand Rapids-area woman died early Saturday in a one-vehicle crash in Ottawa County. Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department said Tami Ann Lindemulder of Wyoming was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero east on Fillmore Street at around 2:30 a.m. when she apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the road, east of 36th Avenue in Georgetown Township. Austin said she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and it ran off the road, rolled over and struck a power pole.

Austin said Lindemulder was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the SUV, and it landed on top of her. Passersby extricated the woman from the crashed vehicle, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, Austin said.

The crash remains under investigation, and Austin said Saturday that police were still looking into whether alcohol was a factor.
