Crash slows traffic on U.S. 31

One person suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle accident late Monday morning on northbound U.S. 31, just south of the drawbridge, said Lt. Renee Freeman of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety. The female passenger of one of the cars was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital. No information was available on her condition.

A semitrailer truck was being driven in the center lane of the three-lane highway when a car in the far right lane changed lanes in front of it, Freeman said. The back of the car hit the front of the semi, and the car was pushed into another car, which was headed north in the far left lane.

Freeman said the car changing lanes was driven by a 79-year-old Detroit man.

The semi was being driven by a 27-year-old Allendale man, and the last car hit was driven by a 32-year-old Muskegon man.
