Man dies after SUV runs off road, catches on fire

One man is dead after a one-vehicle crash early this morning off Holton-Whitehall Road in Muskegon County's Blue Lake Township. The accident happened shortly after midnight between Hyde Park and Automobile Roads. State police said the driver of a white Chevy Blazer went off the road, near an area residents call "Dead Man's Curve,' went down a 20-foot embankment and hit several trees. First-responders said the sport utility vehicle was smoking when they arrived, then caught fire with the man still inside.

The driver of the Blazer, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
