Holland woman drives pickup truck into food store

A Holland woman was injured after she drove her pickup truck into a building Wednesday afternoon, said Sgt. Jon Wolffis of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department. Peggy McBride, 66, was taken by ambulance to Holland Hospital after the 12:19 p.m. accident, Wolffis said. She was listed in fair condition today at the hospital.

The preliminary investigation revealed that McBride may have suffered from a medical condition when she drove her 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck through the glass front doors of the Apple Valley Natural Foods store in Holland Township, Wolffis said. When emergency crews arrived, they found McBride still inside her vehicle, which was completely inside the store.

The store was closed because of excessive damage, Wolffis said.

The accident is still under investigation. Wolffis said alcohol was not a factor.
