Although DeJong asked for leniency — “not for me; but for my wife, daughter, my son and my brother,” he said to the judge — Hulsing noted that DeJong’s previous criminal history was too great for that kind of consideration.
DeJong was also ordered to pay restitution, and fines and costs.
Hulsing noted that most of the money taken that day from The Reef, 17176 W. Spring Lake Road, had been recovered.
