Joshua Hambley, 19, was sentenced on Monday morning in Ottawa County Circuit Court.
Earlier this month, a jury convicted him of first-degree premeditated murder in the death of Jonathan Dargis in February. Hambley stabbed Dargis and fractured his skull with a shovel.
Prosecutors said Hambley thought Dargis was interested in a former girlfriend.
