Instead, Robert James Warne, 17466 Dunewood Court, Unit A, is scheduled to face one of the Circuit Court judges for an arraignment on the felony charges on Nov. 7.

Warne was arrested Sept. 1 after a warrant was issued for him on charges of having sexually abusive material involving children on a computer, and using a computer to commit a crime, Detective Corey Allard of the Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police Department said.

Police discovered the material when they responded to a call regarding a domestic fight at the Dunewood Court address on July 14, Allard said.

They found Warne and his girlfriend inside.

“When we asked why they were fighting, she said she found child porn on her computer and that he did it,” Allard said.

Police were given permission by both Warne and his girlfriend to take and search their laptop computers, Allard said.

The computers were turned over to Detective Kerri Cannata of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. Cannata is trained in investigating these types of cases, Allard said.

The charges against Warne were authorized on Aug. 31. He was arrested on Sept. 1 and bonded out of jail on Sept. 2.

He was arraigned on the charges Sept. 28 in Ottawa County District Court. At that time, he demanded a preliminary examination — which is when court officials determine whether or not there is enough evidence to proceed with the charges.

The Nov. 7 Circuit Court hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
