Emergency crews arrived at the school, 17350 Hazel St., shortly after 7 a.m. today on reports of the school’s sprinkler system and fire alarm being active. After investigating, officials determined that the system was triggered falsely.

“We had just a malfunction in our art room,” WMAAA Director Travis Thompson said.

Thompson said there was a “decent amount” of water that came out of the sprinkler system, and it also impacted some of the hallway areas.

“We canceled classes today due to the water,” he said.

Thompson said the problem was noticed when the school’s staff was arriving for work in the morning.

Crews were working to clean up the school today and Thompson said he expects classes to resume at the Ferrysburg school on Monday.
