State police dog missing for a year

The Michigan State Police is seeking tips about the disappearance of a German Shepherd, who was searching for a missing man in Presque Isle County's Ocqueoc Township a year ago and has not been seen since.

The Cheboygan Daily Tribune reported Bane is a police dog from the Alpena post. In November 2010, Bane was helping police search for a 70-year-old man when the dog suddenly began chasing a deer.

The missing man’s remains were discovered, but Bane has not been found.

The Michigan State Police Troopers Association is offering a $4,000 reward and Crime Stoppers is pledging $1,000. Anyone with information can call 800-422-5245
