The executive director of the Holland Rescue Mission said Steven Evink was staying at the men’s shelter in late September.
When workers noticed he was behaving suspiciously, they confiscated his phone and called police. According to a court indictment, investigators found lewd images of children on Evink’s phone.
The shelter’s executive director said Evink never had contact with children during his stay.
Evink has been charged with receiving, possessing and distributing child pornography. He is in jail and bond was set at $25,000.
