A vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Holland woman was eastbound on South Shore Drive in Park Township about 8:20 a.m. when she lost control, left the road and hit a utility pole and a fire hydrant, before coming to a stop against a garage, Keuning said.

Several small fires and live wires resting on the car kept emergency personnel from approaching the vehicle until a Consumers Energy crew arrived on the scene.

The driver was not injured, police said. They said a passenger in her car, a 33-year-old Holland man, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Several homes and businesses in the area were without power after the accident, Keuning said. Consumers Energy replaced the power pole and wires.

Keuning said alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the accident.

The incident is still under investigation.
