AnnArbor.com reported that officials this week began investigating following complaints about the facility in Salem Township, about 25 miles west of Detroit.
Matt Schaecher, cruelty investigator for the Humane Society of Huron Valley, said one horse was found dead but authorities didn’t know a cause of death. He said other horses were malnourished and lacking in proper shelter.
Schaecher said the other horses were expected to recover.
The agency is working to contact owners. Information on the case was to be forwarded to prosecutors for possible charges.
