Eaton County Prosec-utor Jeffrey Sauter told The Associated Press Wednesday that he authorized misdemeanor warrants charging James Shell with possessing a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and reckless use of a firearm.

Sauter said no one was injured during the incident southwest of Lansing.

Shell also is president of the Grand Ledge Board of Education.

The Lansing State Journal said the district issued a statement saying officials are “sorry to hear about the difficult circumstances” facing Shell.

Attorney general’s spokesman John Sellek said that Shell’s been suspended while the case proceeds.
